Red Deer Tennis Club
We are a non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to promoting tennis and sportsmanship in a club setting, open to the public. Membership is consistently over 200 adults and juniors, from beginners to provincially ranked players. We are now operating as a year round club with staff and coaches. We offer many programs for all ages and abilities.
The facilities include 8 outdoor hard courts, six with lights, 4 indoor hard courts, and a clubhouse with all basic amenities. We are conveniently situated in downtown Red Deer, next to the Recreation Centre, across the street from the Red Deer Curling Club and Farmers Market, and kitty-corner to the Red Deer Lodge. Come visit, and play a game or two with us!
Go ahead and browse our pages to learn about our club, contact us with your comments and questions, and we'll see you on the courts!
Our Mission
We promote sportsmanship and friendship through playing tennis.
Red Deer's Mark Jones
is Tennis Alberta's
Volunteer of the Month
Congratulations
to Mark Jones for being recognized as the first Tennis Alberta Volunteer of the
Month in this issue of E-zine. Mark has
worked tirelessly to advance tennis in the Red Deer region and was instrumental
in getting the new indoor bubble developed.
If you are looking for
someone to take credit, bow to applause, or collect accolades, this is not
your man. If you are looking for someone who works to repair a faulty switch at
the Bubble until 2:00 AM, then shows up ready for work without saying a word
about how he spent his sleeping time, then this is your man.
This same fellow can
be found shoveling snow, to keep the Bubble safely functioning, while others
are happily enjoying playing indoor tennis. After working incognito, he returns
to his demanding day job as an elementary school principal. If something needs
to be done, he finds a way to make it happen. His leadership skills and the
knack for getting right to the point make him a valuable asset to our Red Deer Tennis
Club.
Usually encouraging or joking with
others, especially our youth, very few people have any idea how much this
man has done and continues to do to make our indoor and outdoor tennis
facility such a success.
If people are
waiting for Mark Jones to tell you all that he accomplishes in a day, they
won't hear it from him. So, it is our pleasure to inform you just what a super
tennis volunteer this man is!
This month's volunteer will receive a gift
package from Tennis Alberta comprised of Tennis Alberta clothing and a gift
card to a restaurant in the volunteer's home community.
If you wish to recognize someone in the
tennis community who goes that extra mile for your club or community, please
send us a short 250 words or less article on your volunteer. Submit your
