Red Deer Tennis Club Programs 2008
General notes on programs
- Registrations can again be taken by the REC centre and the Collicutt and DAWE. It worked very well this year.
- The deadline for the registrations at the REC centre , Collicutt and DAWE must be on Friday April 25th, 2008. Any registrations after April 25th should be done at the Red Deer Tennis Club during registration week. (Sat. April 26th, 2008 till Sat. May 3rd, 2008)
- The staff at the Tennis Club needs all the registrations for the tennis programs on May 1st so that they can organize the programs and assign coaches to groups.
- No more than 12 children/adults can be put in the Junior and Adult “Learn to Play” programs and a maximum of 16 children in the Recreational programs. If the groups are full, let the Tennis Club know and refer any extra people to the Tennis Club. If enough children/adults want to sign-up, we can create a new group to accommodate everyone.
- The summer programs will be held from July14 - July 18th and July 21st - July 25th.
- EXCEPTION: REFUNDS will be handled by the Red Deer Tennis Club if the person registered at a city facility (eg. Rec Centre or Collicutt Centre). If someone wants a refund, they need to contact the Red Deer Tennis Club.
2008 Youth Programs
For all programs, players should have their own racquets and must wear non-marking running shoes, a T-shirt, and shorts or sweats. Balls are provided. Programs as listed does not include the membership fee. In order to be able to use the courts on a daily basis throughout the whole summer season, a discounted membership will apply to all juniors that participate in the registered programs. This can be paid at the Red Deer Tennis Club on the GRAND OPENING DAY on April 26th 2008 from noon onwards and throughout registration week from April 26th till May 2nd. Registrations at the Recreation Centre, Collicutt and DAWE closes on Friday April 25th, 2008. After this date registrations and payment will be taken at the Red Deer Tennis Club.

NEW this year are the extra programs offered in August. Register early as space is limited to ensure quality coaching. Their will be a fun tournament at the end of each session and will be organized by the coaches. Only the High Performance (Competitive) program runs from May-Sept. The Junior “Learn to Play” program ends at the end of June.

The Red Deer Tennis Club’s “Learn to Play” tennis program is a series of beginner tennis lessons for youth 8-17 years of age. Participants will be taught basic tennis skills, strokes and strategies.

This program is for players in a fun introduction to the sport of tennis and possibility pursuing tennis to a higher level. Program registrations are according to age groups. Coaches will assess players on regular basis and players will be grouped together according to ability. This ensures that players climbing the ability ladder quicker.
Only the High Performance (Competitive) program runs from May-Sept. The Recreational program ends in August. If you want to register for the lessons in August, there will be an
additional cost.

High Performance (Competitive) Program
The High Performance players are junior players who had extensive training during the past year. They are the club’s Junior Tennis Team. The Red Deer Tennis Club’s head coach is going to evaluate all the programs on a constant basis and if you’re child has the skills to be a high performance player, he/she will be moved to this program. All high performance players have to play in junior tournaments and be a member of Tennis Alberta.
2008 Adult Program
Adult “Learn to play” Program
The Red Deer Tennis Club’s “Learn to Play” tennis programs consists of 2 hours per week lessons offering adults the opportunity to learn the basic skills involved in the sport of tennis. Lessons will cover grips, strokes, strategies and fundamentals of the game. All lessons will be held at the Red Deer Tennis Club’s outdoor tennis courts. Additional lessons are available through the Red Deer Tennis Club.
